Hip Mobility

The ability to move the hip joint through its full range of motion.

Updated

Hip mobility refers to the hips' capacity for flexion, extension, abduction, adduction, and rotation. Adequate hip mobility is crucial for squatting depth, deadlift positioning, and injury prevention. Limited hip mobility causes compensations elsewhere (lumbar flexion, knee valgus). Hip mobility can be improved through stretching and loaded movement.

Examples

  • 90/90 stretch
  • Hip flexor stretches
  • Deep squat holds
